5. The Environment
Current anti marijuana laws prohibit the cultivation of the cannabis plant, not only for the production of marijuana to get you high, but also for the production of hemp.
Hemp can be used in the production of everything from paper, and textiles, to plastics and Hempcrete. Hemp is quickly and easily grown going from seed to harvest in months, not years. It does not damage the soil like many other crops, and it takes in larger amounts of CO2 then most other crops. Hempcrete has been shown to continue to absorb CO2 from the air around it for decades after its manufacture making it in effect, carbon negative.
